Verified paper trails are a must

Thanks to the Press-Citizen for printing Rick Johnson?s article  
describing significant security problems in various types of  
electronic voting equipment (?Confidence in voting systems,? Dec. 8)  
and offering a critique of Linn County Auditor Linda Langenburg?s  
recent statements that voter-verified paper ballots are unnecessary.

Now that newly-elected Secretary of State Mike Mauro has appointed  
Langeburg to his staff, she has said that, since her new boss supports  
voter-verified paper trails, she does, too.

Let?s hope she sticks with that change of mind.
