The Iowa Renewable Energy Association (I-Renew) (http://www.irenew.org
<http://www.irenew.org> ) is a membership-based nonprofit celebrating its
15th year working to promote renewable energy in Iowa. I-Renew is dedicated
to the development of a diverse energy portfolio that includes Iowa=B9s
homegrown renewable energy resources, the advancement of energy efficiency
technologies, and the expansion of community & home-based renewable energy
development in order for Iowa to lead the nation toward energy independence.
I-Renew is known for its annual Energy EXPO=B9s; renewable energy installati=
on
workshops covering topics such as small wind, photovoltaic (PV) solar, and
solar hot water, as well as green building and energy efficiency technology;
and our quarterly newsletter providing information about renewable energy
news in the state. Our largest renewable energy installation is the New
Bohemian Solar Project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa=B9a largest multi-configuration
solar array system in the state. Our Solar Traveler, a mobile solar
generator, has been used at the Iowa State Fair, numerous county fairs, and
community events, and in classrooms throughout Eastern Iowa.
I-Renew is currently seeking a part-time Program Coordinator to work
approximately 20 hours per week. The coordinator will work with I-Renew=B9s
Executive Director and Membership Administrator, helping to ensure the
smooth function of our small, friendly and busy office in Iowa City.
I-Renew=B9s exciting programs include:
a. Statewide Workshop Series: Workshops on renewable energy and related
topics at locations throughout the state
b. Energy EXPO: A weekend full of workshops, demonstrations of renewable
energy and exhibitors in a festive environment the second weekend of
September.
c. Education Program: I-Renew provides hands-on energy learning tools for
free to educators throughout Iowa.
This is a part-time hourly staff position at $12.50 per hour. Health care
allowance of $150 per month is included. Flexible work environment.
Job duties will include:
* All aspects of program support, including coordinating the Energy EXPO,
Workshop Series and Education programs.
* Facilitating and scheduling meetings, workshops, conference calls
* Recruiting Program leaders and volunteers
* Drafting correspondence, meeting summaries, marketing materials, including
newsletters, website content and signage
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Prior administrative and events planning experience
* Must be entrepreneurial-minded, self-motivated and able to develop and
follow through on a workplan with minimal supervision
* Strong organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks
simultaneously
* An understanding of the nature of group dynamics and teamwork. Skills
needed include the ability to build lasting relationships and work with
diverse individuals
* Experience with grassroots community organizing and coalition building
* Strong event planning and marketing skills.
* Excellent written and oral communications skills
* Computer and Internet experience
* Environmental/Educational/Non-profit background a plus
* Interested candidate should be ready to commit to tenure of at least a
year.
