[Iowa-dx] A vision for IAGP's future...

I agree. However, I would point out that this time we did not need to
rely on one individual to make a loan from their credit card to finance
the campaign. Things improved in that area, but they are far from
ideal. We have a lot of growing to do with respect to our finances.
However, many aspects of growing our membership can be done for little
or no money, and it is these things that we need to focus on initially.
As we bring on local people and have some local candidates for them to
support, we can present the sustained giving portion of the puzzle as a
natural part of the program, not just a "give us your money" kind of
thing.
I don't know if this is being done or not in our larger groups, but if
it is not it might be something to think about. Back when I was with
the GOP, every one of our meetings included the passing of the buck bag.
Just like taking an offering at church, the bag/envelope was sent
around and folks put in a dollar (or more if they were able) that went
to the local party. It was a small thing, but it helped pay for mailing
costs, copying, and the like.
Is this being done in our larger counties?
