I've been reading the group comments on the future of the
Green Party, and I thought I would share what I posted on the
Johnson County Green Party message board on Yahoo back on
October 12th of this year (Libris Fidelis is my writing name):

Subject : [iagp-johnsoncounty] Election Committee Meeting 9-30-2006

Johnson County Green Party Election Committee, at the
Iowa City Public library, but the entry into the Yahoogroup
system repeatedly did not take. This message is what I
promised Holly, that I would recap my brief three-point
presentation on campaign strategy for Green Party. These
three points are my hearfelt ideas, and I do not insinuate
that these are the only considerations:
__________________________________________________________
At present, the public views Green Party as "under-dogs",
and we must break people's misconceptions of that notion.
We are dedicated to defending Democracy in our now-exclusive
and inconsiderate two-party system, and promoting our ideas
not as a spoiler but as a contributor and defender to Democracy
is not a tea party. However, we can have fun and enjoy what we
are doing, if we realize and promote that Democracy is both
responsibility and participation, not a generous "service" that is
provided by the establishment.

1) FOCUS: First of all, we must individually and associatively
get the word out that Green Party is not as an "underdog"
last-place fad or small local social group, but that we are a
disadvantaged party being kept by a two-party political
machine system from promoting the better candidates.

We also must focus on that as being our purpose of our
plan for change -- to bring to the forefront new people
into our political system who primarily have our society's
best interests in their minds.

2) EMPHASIZE: people should join Green Party and vote
Green Party to inject Democracy into our political system.
Our nation's political system is a sick, dysfunctional
set-up because of the two-party system, which excludes
other ideas and prevents awareness of what is really going
on, and because without Green Party, voters cannot
have the choice of selecting propriety, but only choice
of re-electing new faces from the same two old regimes,
those same two old regtimes that play off each other for
emotional votes and then accomplish nothing new and
with continuing very little accomplishment.

3) PROMOTE: we must campaign individually and as our
group to the news media (television and radio especially)
that if they are to ignore us, then they are preventing
Green Party from being a viable entity of Democracy,
and thus what the news media is ensuring is the
continuation of a half-baked, prejudiced election process.

Excluding new political ideas only ensures that the news
media wants to be the unbreakable mold for public
communication, whereas it was traditionally intended in
this nation that the news would be informative and
honest by being all-inclusive.

Remind the news media that Green Party is not some
small local group of fringe disagree-ers and upstart
wanna-be's, but that Green Party is an established
nation-wide political cooperative for grass-roots
Democracy.
