The following is a letter I sent to the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier =
this afternoon.

Wendy Barth is the Iowa Green Party candidate for Governor of Iowa.  She =
is a refreshing alternative to Democrats and Republicans who too easily =
are influenced by large donors and corporate contributions. Wendy Barth =
only accepts contributions from citizens like you and me.

The governor is supposed to have control over the Iowa National Guard, =
but the President has usurped that authority in a war of aggression. =
Wendy Barth proposes to create the Iowa Emergency Response Guard, and =
transition the Iowa National Guard to meet the needs of Iowans here at =
home.  The Iowa Emergency Response Guard would be beyond the reach of =
federal authorities who clearly have abused their authority.

Wendy Barth supports renewable, clean energy production featuring wind, =
solar and hydrogen fuel cell technology. Alternative energy sources like =
wind and solar power not only provide freedom from the pollution of =
fossil fuels, but are free and unlimited. The technology exists to =
harness the wind and convert sunlight into electricity.

Wendy Barth supports sustainable farming and the environmental gains =
from sound farming practices. A sustainable system is one that =
concentrates on long-term solutions guided by ecosystems management of =
interactions between plants, animals, soil, climate, and people.

Wendy Barth opposes large hog confinements. She believes citizens and =
communities have a right to voice environmental concerns on issues that =
affect their quality of life.
