As I've said many times previously, the onset of the Post-Oil Economy
will require a movement from a competitive, to a cooperative economy.
Unlimited growth can't be sustained indefinitely; it simply drains the
world's natural resources to the point where all life is threatened.

But what does that mean in a practical sense? How do you get a
cooperative economy from the drawing board to the boardroom? And how do
you preserve such things as freedom of choice, incentive to work, and
gains from efficiency? And how can we use such a change to eliminate
economic injustice?

In the latest of my "Straight Answers" series of position briefs (#11:
Poverty), I offer my personal vision of just such a plan.

Some will call this unworkable; some may just call it insane. To my
detractors let me say: just test it.

I do still consider myself a scientist at heart, and science invites you
to test-and-disprove. So let's get together. Let's create the
mathematical models and the simulated populations to conduct some proper
testing. Let our arguments come from a position of evidence, not dogma.

What we may find is not a perfect support, or a perfect gainsaying, of
my idea; but a situation wherein controllable variables may make all the
difference between success and failure. Because, one way or the other, I
think we're agreed that we'll have to do *something*.
