From Maureen McCue, of Physicians for Social Responsibility:

I appreciate that you and others are promoting this important lecture by
Jim Wallis. I'm sad that two important events are occurring at the same
time, especially since I didn't ask you to send out our notice before
now. We in PSR have organized so many events around the twin issues of
the health and human rights consequences of global warming for the
entire week of Sept 10th that it's been hard to get the word out about
each of them! However,.... could you please send around the following,
please and thanks. M.

If you are concerned or confused about global warming and whether you
are touched and motivated more by art, satire, academia or activism,
Iowa Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) has something to offer
you this September. Dedicated to addressing the most serious challenges
to public health, especially global environmental degradation and
climate change, Iowa PSR is working hard to raise awareness of and
responses to the threat of global warming. As a concrete gesture of
support, Iowa PSR is also raising funds for the continued success of the
Common Ground Clinic in New Orleans.

As a part of its suite of activities addressing global warming, Iowa PSR
has organized both an art show and silent auction, and a night of
political satire in conjunction with their Health Consequences
conference. The Art Show and Silent Auction will be available at the
Vetro and open to the public from 2:00 on Friday Sept 14 through Sunday
11:00 AM with a special wine and cheese reception Saturday evening at
the Vetro. Those more attuned to performance art and humor are
encouraged to attend /Inconvenient Jokes--Hot Humor for A Hot Planet/
Thurs. Sept 13th at the Hancher. This is humor for a serious issue and
serious fund raising--featuring nationally known comedians, Dave Zollo,
the director of the New Orleans Common Ground Clinic, and a cameo
appearance by God.

For more information on how to participate in any or all of these and
yet other events check out <www.iowa-psr.org/> Tickets for
/Inconvenient Jokes Hot Humor/ at the Hancher are available on line:
