Dear California Greens,
We introduce ourselves as a new face of leadership of the Green Party.
Hello, welcome to your brightest hope for the future of our party. May
your meeting this weekend go well. We look forward to partnering with
you to make 2008 a watershed year for the Green Party.
We have developed a campaign and an approach which offers an opportunity
to build our party and put at ease those concerns we all have as to the
value of the vote in the 21st century. This country needs an electoral
alternative that is more than rhetoric or symbolic in its differences
and impact on national politics. This country needs a presidential
candidate who will speak beyond the sound-bites of institutional
politics and who will give voice to the concerns that traditional
politicians dare not mention. This country needs a party whose
leadership is diverse beyond surface layers of the color of one=E2=80=99s sk=
in,
beyond gender, and which diversifies the political discussion being held
in this country. A political party that will provide an alternative to
the tired democrat/republican politics of which America has become so tired.
The Green Party is just such a party and my run for the Green nomination
is just such a campaign. Our campaign is designed and is being developed
to be a party-building machine. We are focusing, though not exclusively,
on the tens of millions of eligible voters who, because of a lack of
real options, have made the highly political (and intelligent) decision
to not vote. We are focusing on youth, Black, Latino and Indigenous who
will become this party's future leadership. I presenting a campaign
which can appeal to dissatisfied non-voters we will also appeal to
dissatisfied voters. Our campaign is one perfectly suited to demonstrate
to these communities the viability of the Green party as their electoral
option for action.
My campaign is one that will focus on party-building, one that seeks to
build for a future political leadership which has yet to emerge or be
found. Much like the late great rapper Tupac said of his music, "I may
not spark the revolution but my music will inspire those who will," our
campaign is being designed for just that purpose. No future hope for
this country or world can be taken seriously without the organized
development of the Green Party into electoral political leadership. Our
campaign will increase our party's numbers and more importantly set a
standard for political organization but will also excavate future
leaders who will emerge and find their home and own voice through our
current work.
Our campaign will focus on and amend Green Party platforms to speak more
clearly to the American public. Police brutality, mass incarceration,
labor, media and music industry abuse of image and culture,
environmental racism, growing economic inequality, war and permanent
occupation of the middle east, global warming, and the like will be
framed and popularized in terms of their impact on the most vulnerable
of this society. We will build the Green Party into a genuine Rainbow
Coalition. That is, ours will be a party for the progressive elements of
those most oppressed. We will seek to unite them under the umbrella of a
party whose core ideology, established mission, and platforms offer an
opportunity unlike our opponents who, by currently established
definition of party, practice and electoral structure, can offer only
fraudulent imagery of such. Ours will be a party for the diverse
progressive elements of the American electorate.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jared Ball
