"What the hell is happening here," demanded Former President
Bill Clinton, who is still shocked and irritated by New Mexico Governor
Bill Richardson's unexpected endorsement of Illinois Senator Barack
Obama.
During a weekend private meeting held by California Democrats, Clinton's
particiation in the California State Democratic Party convention in San
Jose was used to lobby all of California's 21 uncommitted superdelegates
to support his wife. But, William Clinton became flushed in his face as
he complained about how he expected Governor Richardson, who was a member
of President Clinton's own cabinet, to loyally support his wife for the
Democratic Party presidential nomination, or for the most part be a
party neutral, as was reported by several people attendees Instead,
Governor Richardson gave the cold backside anti-endorsement to Hillary
Clinton and pledged his endorsement to Barack Obama late last month,
saying that Obama was a "once-in-a-lifetime leader for The
Establishment."
According to another Democratic Party superdelegate, Chris Stampolis,
William Clinton told the group that the only statement that Richardson
had made was not to endorse Obama, saying, "'He told me to my face five
times he would not do that.'" But, Pahl Shipley, Governor Richardson's
spokesperson, told the group that the governor never made any promise at
all to endorse Hillary Clinton.
Said Inola Henry, an uncommitted superdelegate, about the incident in the
Democratic Party meeting with William Clinton, "He seemed more hurt than
anything. He sort of gets a little redder and redder and redder, but he
wasn't off the deep end as I had seen him in the past, it was sort of
like, 'Gee, I'm a martyr."
Said another, "He (Clinton) doesn't seem to understand, even though he
was once president and should see this clearly, that The Establishment
has finally completely taken over our Democratic Party just like they
have always owned the Republican Party these past one-hundred-seventy
years! We're now a subsidiary to the Republican Party, our nation
is already heading into a soviet-style nation, and the money for us is in
obeying The Establishment, but, sadly, to fight The Establishment to
defend Democracy in our country just isn't lucrative to any politician
any more! So we aren't going to!"
