I do not want Earth Day to be turned into another Xtimas!!!!! We already
have enough Easter Bunny holidays! Earth Day is supposed to be
responsible reflection on our duty to respect Gaia!!!
That does not mean that there cannot be respectful dancing, music,
celebrations and so on. The Greek Orthodox Church (of which I am not a
member, because I am a non-theist) has just such a celebration with great
food, great music... and great DANCING! One of the dancers saw me
appreciating the dancing going on, I was really getting into it visually
and
"audially" due to the great music and moves ... I had taken three
semesters of jazz dance so I really appreciated the dancing moves... and
he came over to me and asked if I liked his dancing! I said, yeah, it was
great, I really enjoyed watching him dance! He looked astonished at me
and said, "I wasn't dancing for it to be an art, I was dancing for god, I
wanted his approval, did you like the way I honored god?" I thanked him
for explaining that to me and he went back to dancing.
That same analogy applies to how we conduct ourselves in honoring Gaia,
whether it is on April 22, April 23 (some celebrations called "Day After
Earth Day" are continuations of Earth Day), or on April 16th.
But I just have never heard of an April 16th Total Earth Day, and do not
know anything about it! I hope it is celebrated with respect and
