"I wish That Woman would stop! Just stop! I'm tired of her undermining
my party candidacy," complained Democratic Party presidential rival
Barack Obama, who is complaining about which candidate is the biggest
complainer.
The issue is a threat to their candidacy in the debates. Senator
Obama is not only objecting to the questions posed this week, in
the debate moderated by ABC News, but also of Hillary Clinton's competing
with him. Obama felt that the toughest questions were asked of him, to
unseat his front-runner lead for the nomination, and he
maintains that excessive time was given to politically divisive
questions rather than to issues that matter to USAians.
Obama accused the moderators on thursday that they "like stirring up
controversy and they like playing gotcha games, getting us to attack each
other."
Clinton said Friday that getting tough questions is part of what happens
in a debate and campaign. "Having been in the White House for eight years
and seeing what happens in terms of the pressures and the stresses on a
president, that was nothing," she admonished Senator Obama on friday,
suggesting that if Obama thinks that their debate was tough, it pales in
comparison to the pressures a president faces in the White House. "I'm
with Harry Truman on this -- if you can't stand the heat, get out of the
kitchen," she told voters at a campaign stop in Pennsylvania. "Just
speaking for myself, I am very comfortable in the kitchen."
