On the last remaining full day of campaigning for the Pennsylvania
primary, once again, the two Democratic Party candidates criss-cross the
state to promote solid support for their candidacy. Senator Hillary
Rodham-Clinton and her husband and their daughter, Chelsea, will make
separate campaign stops before they again meet together in Philadelphia
for a final evening rally. Barack Obama will complete his campaign tour
in Pittsburgh.
This past weekend resulted in some of the most direct attacks in the
Democratic Party candidates' campaign. Both candidates had television
advertisements yesterday that accused each other of maintaining ties to
special interests that they both claim to reject. But everyone who is
sophisticated knows that Hillary Clinton philanders with special
interests whereas Obama comes directly from the special interests, and
that Obama is there to hand the election over to McCain, just like Kerry
did for Bush in 2004.
Senator Clinton also complained about Obama having said that either of
the two Democratic contenders, as well as John McCain, would be "better
than George Bush." Clinton admonished that the Democrats do not need
anyone saying that about a Democratic nominee who will make such an
endorsement that also will "cheer on John McCain." It is in line with
the sort of dishonest tactics being used by Obama and by the New York
Times, the latter which disrespectfully uses the term "Mrs. Clinton"
rather than her title of "Senator Clinton". It is a mental sublimination
that demeans in the first case the Democratic Party, and in the second
case the status of Senator Clinton as a member of Congress. Indeed, in
one of Obama's demeaning statements that was intended to diminish Senator
Clinton's reputation, Obama once recalled Senator Clinton's dismissive
statement in 1992 about her not wanting to spend her life at home baking
cookies, which was clearly intended to orient the voters' view of Senator
Clinton as a housewife ru nning for election, rather than running for US
Presidential office as an elected US senator.
