I have been trying to get my comments published in two local
newspapers on this, and so far they have rejected my comments.

Green Party for about three years now has been complaining
about how the agri-business conspiracy has been destroying
local family farms and family agriculturally-related businesses.

The overall evidence is that what preceeded "globalization",
the international/multi-national corporate cartel, had already
been setting the stage for internationally-controlled markets
and "make-work" economic profit mechanisms.

"Make-work" economic profit mechanisms and internationally-
controlled markets work together.  The money is not in the
making of something and selling it for a profit, but rather
in artificially enhancing the "value" to raise the costs
and the sales prices.  Let me take the first case to explain,
and then the second case.

"Make-work" economic profit mechanisms is in the way things
are produced, packaged, marketed, and transported.  The more
processes there are, the more profit there is.  The real
reason the railroads are eliminating branch lines and yards
is because there is less profit in the highly economical
railroad train (which typically moves one ton 435 miles per
gallon of fuel), in the form of 150 car trains which can carry
two semi-truck trailers per carload and one crew every
two-hundred miles.  From Chicago to Los Angeles, that is
roughly six crews of three or 18 people moving 200 truck
trailers eleven hundred miles.  But, the more profitable way
is to put two drivers in one truck per one trailer, and thus
have 300 drivers driving 150 trucks to move the same cargo
across the nation.  The truck motif is the more profitable
(and inflationary) means to make money, so business has moved
in that direction.

Make-work includes excessive packaging of products to make
the product seem like it is more than it really is,
unnecessary product sales by slashing prices from exhorbitant
price mark-ups, expensive advertising not to inform but to
inspire impulse buying, complex modification of products to
make them unique, such as 87 ingredients in Wonder Bread!!!!
All of these phony improvements drive up the cost of all
products to consumers, including one of the largest scams of
offering discount coupons!  Simple direct marketing of pure
unaltered products is always cheaper and keeps reliable
businesses in operation year after year.  That is not what is
wanted in the global economy!

The second one is just as diabolical.  Internationally
controlled markets has (and this is a real case, my buddy was
one of the drivers!) Hawai'ian granulated sugar being shipped
to California and then trucked to Buffalo, New York, where it
is sold in the east and in Canada; at the same time, the
truck returns with Cuban raw sugar, which is shipped
from Buffalo, New York to California sugar refineries!  The
markets are controlled by international brokerage firms that
have no names that anyone in general society would ever see!
The brokerage firms are cooperative with international
producers and retail-wholesalers!  They are the ones who are
profitting from food farmland being converted over to bio-fuel
so that family farms can be run out of business and be
replaced by international conglomerate farms which produce
not food, but bio-fuel!  As a result, last year dairy farms
and beef feed lots could not get hay and grain for their
animals, and have been slaughtering them rather than letting
them starve to death!  What hay and grain the farmers and
ranchers could get has increased in cost exponentially!

The world is being inundated by patented seed.  If the
biological genetic code of a patented seed is found in the
plants of a non-contract farmer, the farmer is sued and loses
his farm for patent infringement!  However, it is well-known
that birds carry seeds long distances, often as a process of
their digestion system, and deposit germinated seed from
their excrement!  That can and does transfer the genetics to
victimized innocent farmers!

Insecticides have devastated honey bees and butterflies and
moths which do the overwhelming pollination process for all
plants.  Plants are beginning to die out!  Food crops are not
being propogated!  This, on land, is as bad as over-fishing
the seas!  All in the name of international commerce!

Just as you say, Max, the entire world is being affected by
this inhuman unscientific gluttony of greed and superiority.
Just as with Global Warming, all of our problems are human
made, but it is not really because of the human race so
much as it is because of elite humans pursuing their wealth
without concern for any consequences!  Just like nuclear
waste dumps building up with 200,000 year half-life spans
of nuclear waste, no thought is provided for what will
happen if we do things that we are doing!

The analogy is like a corporate farmer cutting the roots to
the fruit trees to save on the cost of water.  It is just as
stupid that we are cutting the human race's own throats!
The obvious result will be just like on Easter Island - where
15,000 island inhabitants cut down all of the coconut trees
and killed all of the animal life only to starve down and
have wars and crime that killed the population down to only
the 200 individuals there now.

Winter wheat has been damaged or destroyed, horses are being
given away, abandoned, or left to starve, half the bees that
pollinate our food plants have disappeared, food crops have
been converted to fuel crops to make more money, the food that
IS being grown in America is exported because it's growers make
more $$$ exporting it than keeping it here to feed Americans.

The list goes on and on, and I'm not talking about some third
world country... I'm talking about America! If this isn't
enough to show you what's on our horizon, I don't know what it
will take to make it clear.
