The scuttle I've been hearing is an Obama/Richardson ticket. The Dems have
been courting the SW part of the country, and having Richardson on the
ticket might give them an edge in doing that.
Kucinich and his people were burned in '04 by the Edwards team, so I agree
that he would not pass over his support to Edwards. He and Clinton have
been on the opposite side of issues too often, and while Richardson may be
the more idealogical match for Kucinich, I think he is hoping to have some
pull in the platform and convention schedule if he backs the winner. Right
now, Obama looks to be a winner in Iowa.
Clinton has conceded Iowa, and is moving on to New Hampshire. Some of her
people have gone negative on the caucus format, and have begun speaking out
about it. Look for her to push for some substantial changes to the process
after the dust settles from '08, especially if she does not get the
nomination.
I would suggest that we all grab a piece of history and save the Register
front page on Friday morning. I strongly suspect that the two major parties
will give Iowa an ultimatum; change to a primary format or lose your first
in the nation status.
