[Iowa-dx] Registering Green in Iowa-$200 for list of Greens?

I think the most we ever paid for a statewide list was slightly under $200.=
That included all "client" counties (those whose records were maintained =
solely by the SoS) and "non-client" counties (whose auditors were the prima=
ry record-keepers), except for Linn County. I'll be curious to see if th=
e costs are the same in all counties. What does the $200/yr subscription b=
ring, since you could pay $120 - $10 each month - and still get a monthly u=
pdate? You would likely not need or want that much, more like every thre=
e months or so, anyway.
It seems most cost-effective if IAGP got a list (maybe every few months?) a=
nd distributed that to county chapters or contacts, and if counties wanted =
more updates, they can order them locally.
In any case, this makes me think we should be thinking of some way to publi=
cize this - it's eas(ier) to be Green....

Congratulations Ron!
In fact, I was so motivated that I went out and registered Green today in C=
edar
Rapids!
The reason we agreed to the current scheme was because we would have access=
to
the list of registered Greens in Iowa for organizing purposes. Unfortunate=
ly,
Tim at the Linn Auditor's desk said the state of Iowa has a new statewide
computer. So instead of getting the Linn County list once a month for free=
, we
will have to pay for it. He said it would cost $10 for every report of Gr=
eens
in Linn County and $200 for a yearly subscription. He wasn't sure how it w=
orked
in Johnson County.
As an alternative, he thought that the state Party could get a list of stat=
ewide
members and distribute to each county as the Democratic Party does. He col=
lects
the new list for the Republican Party in Linn County twice a week.
Peace,
Bob
