Realistically...I would guess 20, maybe 30 tops based on past
conventions. Optimistically...50 (Ted...you still up to the $1 per
person bounty for this convention?). As far as media goes, maybe one
lone reporter from the local newspaper if we happen to draw a state
candidate or two, and maybe someone from Iowa Public Radio if we draw
in a national candidate.

Not living in Iowa City, I have no idea as to what the rules are at
the various venues. If the North Liberty Community Center will work
for us, let's give it a shot unless there is somewhere that would work
better.

The food rules at the Union sound atrocious. I can understand not
wanting to contribute to that kind of captive marketing. If we might
draw in a good number of college students it could be a tradeoff, but
if our numbers at the college will be low or non-existent there is no
reason to meet on campus.

If we were to meet here in Burlington I know the perfect
location...the basement of the Memorial Auditorium. Lots of parking,
lots of room, a nice atmosphere for both large group and breakout
meetings, and a great vegetarian restaurant just 3 blocks away. We'd
probably get the room for $25 or $50 rental. But meeting in
Burlington would be nuts...too many people to travel too far. Not a
good solution economically or environmentally.
