For the larger meetings we've had, the IC Public Library Room A has worked,=
and for smaller ones, Room B is actually a nice space. IN any of thee loc=
ations, people can be seated around a table , so they can take notes, see e=
ach other to talk, etc. The Reading venue was not what was asked for, and =
was about the worst type of place I could imagine.
Why would you not want Uptown Bill's? That can be arranged to accommodate =
a decents-ized group with tables,e tc, and we can have food there - ??
The University presents a problem, because we need a student group to actua=
lly get the room for us There is currently no Campus Green chapter, and I'=
m not sure there is a campus groups that would wwant to sponsor somethign l=
ike a state party convention (not that we couldn't ask around).

As a personal preference, I really do not like the Iowa City Public
Library for large meetings. Room A is fine for showing films, but I
favor some other venue with more accommodations for the room and
comfort of having a larger meeting of that nature. For one thing,
at the National Meeting in Reading, we sat around medium-sized
tables, and at lunch time we could eat and discuss topics. Of
course, that was in a hotel, and that was expensive.
I cannot remember where I was in Iowa City that we could get for
cheap, it was a year ago and at a different event and I really liked
it, so I am not being any help. I know the Iowa Memorial Union has
fantasticly large to huge rooms, but I also know they charge money
for their use. I do not know if we could get "a deal" or not, and,
they have a food court and a cafe in the building, both really great.
The cost of venue space rental is going to be a big problem for most
of the desireable locations. If Uptown Bill's was only a little
larger, I would recommend that and we could probably get in for free,
but I am not recommending that place, of course. I do not think it
would be suitable.
