[Iowa-dx] Resolutions

I think the back room at Uptown Bill's could work, but you're right it migh=
t be a bit small. Absent the library, it would be interesting to see if th=
e mall has any options. I'm also intersted in lookin ginto one of the donw=
town hotels, although I'm guessing the cost may be steepfor us. But it doe=
sn't hurt to find out.

We've run into difficulties with religious institutions in the past, althou=
gh we did have an early meeting at the Friends' House (we paid a "donation"=
for its use, but even then, they were a bit trepidatious). I know Greens =
in the south have held meetings in church buildings, so I don't think it's =
impossible, but just telling you what we've run into here.

With a larger group, the larger library room is not so bad, and it's conven=
iently located doowntown.

My wife and I have been to an SCA event there (we actually met there
:-) ), and I think the space would work for us. The only drawback I
would see is food for lunch. It might be difficult to have any kind
of working lunch, and it would be a drive back to town for anything
other than some fast food, at least that is what I recall. Thanks for
the idea, Kelley!

I agree with Ron that Uptown Bill's would be a bit small for this
particular gathering. Hopefully we have more folks there than that
space could hold, and hopefully we have a media representative or two
that we would have to accommodate. The NL community center would be
good on both counts. Uptown Bill's worked well for our officers'
meetings and some of our smaller meetings, but for a state convention
I don't think it is the best choice.

Other ideas? Is the Memorial Union just too expensive for us? Are
there any meeting spaces at the Old Capital Mall that might work?
What about one of the community churches? The Unitarian-Universalist
basement is a bit small, but one of the other churches might work if
they have the space.

Rick
