Short of staging an attack on the US homeland itself, Bush and his
war-criminal conspirators are about to have to force Don "torture of African
Slaves is cool" Rumsfeld out of office.
The real peace and anti-war movement -- as opposed to the Democratic Party
anti-values, pro-international capital cheerleaders for tolerating
anti-woman, anti-choice, and pro-free trade policies led by Hillary Clinton
and their monied ilk -- will not be satisfied by allowing Rumsfeld to leave
office and not face consecutive life sentences for war crimes, crimes
against humanity, etc.
No maam/sir.
We will not allow US troops to sit in the brig for Abu Gharaib, Gitmo, and
other specific and individual rapes, murders, and violation of individual
crimes, while one of the main architects is allowed to live scott free.
Donald Rumsfeld being purged, charged, tried, and then jailed will only be a
beginnning step towards repairing and winning the true war against
terrorism. He and then his other comrades will need to be put on trial
before national and then international courts. This, so that a man whose
repeated intentional deceit in Iraq has led to the conservative estimate by
the widely respected and endorsed study published by the peer-reviewed
British medical journal lancet of over 650,000 excess Iraqi deaths since the
US preemtive invasion and occupation of that country, can be made an example
of what shall befall war criminals.
Dreaming? Maybe.
But only a course of honest truth telling and holding people accountable can
make our world better.
Voting for people who want more troops into Iraq is perhaps the co-signature
of irresponsibility, do not however, deny Donald Rumsfeld his trial after we
have forced him out of office.
We have a responsibility not only to the US constitution, but to the
historical forces of enlightenment and extention of human rights and justice
for the greater good to do no less.
