Thank you posting the stats below. Your message brings to mind the following
story of something that sprang up over the last few months.
Drew [Jamboi] blogs a bit, and on a couple of different sites frequented by
people that call themselves progressives and independents. He got into a
conversation about marijuana reform that he brought up on the media list,
which then developed into an off list converstation between several greens
and a couple of potential greens.
We lobbied and convinced Craig Bergland to endorse the question 7 on the
Nevada ballot, mentioned below.
And we have now formed an ad-hoc group whose e-mail list is
gpssp@lists.riseup.net to discuss ways to address marijuana and drug reform
issues. The 'gpssp'
stands for Green Party Sane Substance Policy.
We haven't had a lot of conversations so far but one of our professed goals
is to examine our Party's platform, including our various state party
platforms, and consider how we might better reflect a better policy. Many,
but not all, of us believe that regulation, hence some form of legalization,
is the best approach for marijuana.
If you are interested in joining this group for potential discussions,
please send an e-mail to Drew [jamboi@yahoo.com] and he can add you or send
instructions on how to join. If you know of Greens in your state party that
would be interested in joining with us on this, if they are not on this
list, verify to us that they are green [so we will know they are in fact
Green] and we can add them.
This is all very informal at this point.
We've been meaning to share but everyone has been so busy.
