I'm afraid Wythe or In these Times might have it wrong on this, or are they
buying into the Fox-CNN corporate-sponsored "right-think."
Newsline/ideology?
The election in fact was a move towards the center.
Since when has opposing an illegal and immoral war via voting,
phone-calling, peaceful demonstrations and petitions been a monopoly of the
left?
Since when has supporting solutions like HR676, the single payer healthcare
proposal drawn up by Physicians for a National Healthcare Program been not
centrist and moderate?
In more than one key senate race, the democrat winning won on a platform
opposing Roe V Wade.
We want our troops home most of all, as witnessed by the plurality of 40
percent who voted for Ned Lamont against the Lieberman anti-Palestinian,
anti-Iraqi bigot.
The mainstream oppose the war, we are not leftists or liberals. Most of us
are just moderate people who have enough education and resources to vote.
-Hank
BTW: Curious: what percent of people didn't vote who were eligible to?

Progressive Caucus Rising
This election was no victory for centrists

"We have a lot of work to do," says Progressive Caucus Co-Chair Rep.
Barbara Lee (D-Calif), shown here at a Capitol Hill news conference on
the Federal government's response to Hurricane Katrina in February.
"Hurricane Katrina was a stark reminder of the failure of our government
to address the challenges of inequality and poverty that still confront
our nation."
Don't buy all the crap coming from GOP talking-point memos or the
blather from mainstream pundits. The midterm elections do not signal a
move to the center. Yes, a few conservative Democrats were elected, but
the big gainers were progressives. In particular, the Congressional
Progressive Caucus is on the rise.
