I have proposed the following to UFPJ as a new agenda leading into
2008. It is concrete and I thought you might want to know about it.
If you agree and want to support it, please communicate your feelings
to UFPJ.
One way of doing this is to write Sue Udry ("sue udry"
<sue@unitedforpeace.org>) who is a hard working and decent staff
person in DC. The national leadership is unlikely to respond. They
have not so far.
I welcome your comments.

Here is my proposal for a UFPJ agenda leading into the election year.

1. Let us launch a major campaign for FilibusterForPeace.org which is
so opposed by our "friends on the Hill" as Sue calls them. Let us not
allow the Dems to pretend that they do not have the power to end the
war. I have been fighting for this for the better part of a year.
Kevin Zeese, another Green, and Rich Aucoin, Libertarian candidate for
Lt. Governor in MA in 2002. David Swanson has also been proposing we
talk more about this. But not the pro-Dem leadership.
2. Let us step up the call for impeachment.
3. Let us invite paleocons and Libertarians and REAL Greens to our
rallies. I have also been trying to get this done for over a year.
Silence from the leadership.
4. Let us denounce AIPAC and mount a defence of Mearsheimer and Walt.
5. Let us mount a very serious critique of the Dems as the other war
party instead of sticking to Bush bashing.

In short neither the Dems nor the Republicans deserve the support of
the pro-peace majority with the exception of Ron Paul and possibly
Dennis Kucinich although the latter's endorsement of the pro-war Kerry
in 2004 forever disqualifies him in my book.

We have tried demos and begging the Dems for over 5 years. We have
achieved nothing. The strategy has failed totlally, and it must be
changed now.
