Below are the results of a "P"DA poll taken among rank and file "P"DAers,
meaning those who are hoping against hope that the Dem candidate will oppose
the war in 2008.Two facts stand out.
First, Kucinich gets 41% of the vote - by far the highest percentage. So he
could bring these along with him if he becomes an honest man and joins the
GP. Conversely he helps to keep many along with himself in the fast embrace
of the war party if he remains.
Second, Edwards comes in second and the "P"DA urges its members to go out
and work for either of them!!! Now Edwards voted for the war, lied about
his knowledge of Bush's lies when he apologized for it, and refuses to
promise to get the US out entirely or even by 2013. In other words he is a
prowar candidate just like the rest save for Kucinich and Gravel.
That means the "P"DA is urging its members to vote for a blatantly prowar
candidate just because he is a Dem. So at this early stage "P"DA has
decisively abandoned any lingering claims to being antiwar. They do not
walk the walk. But that is not news. They are putting party above
principle, party above their "antiwar" stance as they always have.

*Kucinich First, Edwards Second in PDA Straw Poll*
Dear John,
Not surprisingly in a field of eight contenders, no candidate came close to
gaining a majority of the total vote in PDA's recently completed
presidential straw poll. *But two candidates--Dennis Kucinich (41%) and
John Edwards (26%)--combined for more than 2/3 of the total vote. * Over
15,000 PDA activists voted in the presidential straw poll.
