Hi,
In SF the Libertarians recently joined anti-war
coalitions and warmly invited Greens. That is partly
because unlike other parts of the country we are
stronger here than they are.
When the discussion got economic and public revenue
issues we just agreed to drop it. They winced a little
when speculating that speakers would like to say where
the money wasted on the war could go:
public education, housing, single payer health care
etc.
I debate the Ron Paul enthusiasts one on one but focus
on common ground when working with Libertarians.
We had a state activist leave the party to go work on
Ron Paul's campaign. Frankly, I would find it easier
to understand why one would go to Kucinich than Paul.
It's not that I am not glad he is out there with his
anti-war message, I am I just wouldn't give him any
money or energy.
Dodd's filibuster though of immunity for the telecoms
might be something we can work in alliance together
with the Libertarians.
We don't have a lot of time. Tomorrow it starts. So
far I don't see any group organizing around it.
The Filibuster for Peace (a cited example of
Libertarian alliance) benefits from a successful
filibuster on telecom immunity. If the Dems see people
moving to support Dodd and others and petitioning
their own Senators they might be more willing to do it
on funding.
BTW I am not supporting Dodd as a candidate, I think
the filibuster helps us.
