Hi,

I started writing this "I don't think GPAX speaks for the party anymore than PDA speaks for the Democratic Party. I do think we should endorse representing organized peace oriented Greens and we should be doing a lot of it. Is not the Green Party the anti-war party? The Dems will quickly be showing they aren't."

Then I looked up the info online http://www.gp.org/committees/peace/about.shtml GPAX appears to be an official committee of the GP and subject to Article 3 of the by-laws http://www.gp.org/documents/bylaws.shtml

If there is a decisionmaking structure in GPAX they could make the decisions. Absent that maybe a 2 day deadline. Post the request; people have 2 days to respond yeah or nay and debate. Try for consensus and then some threshold vote to be timely.

What is the current membership of GPAX? How big is it? The description says 3 per state; is that occurring? Is there a list of the 3 official reps from each state or particularly from Ca my state? What is the decisionmaking process? Are there additional by-laws to the ones I cited?

  Thanks,
  Jim

There should be a broad spectrum of people empowered to endorse. (say 10 - 200

Any one of those folks could empower the use of our name, and this should be notified on email to a larger discuss list.

Should it provoke controversy, then it will. But those discussions help clarify and actually help facilitate action.

As I have stated many times, I will work in coalition with everyone except organized bigots like the minutemen, etc.

Were someone to associate GPAX or the national green party with them, I would want a retraction, apology, and that person would no longer be able to give our endorsement.

  Thanks Joni in Okie,
hank back on the left coast

My guess is, if we as gpax have a firm commitment towards action and
expedited sponsorship, do we support that in our SC?
What if there's an org. we have real issues with?
  How far does autonomy go?
Is the SC to be held to a different standard than we as an action committee would like, being
that they're speaking for the Nat'l Party?
Nothings ever black and white, unfortunately, but i think as gpax we would do well to discuss this, for
those of us that are able...
I'm thinking with good people and good goals and good kv's as a checkpoint we/none of us should be holding others
back. My thought is, when compelled to flow, we should flow, when there's an ebb we need to respect that as well.
These are my thoughts. What are Yours?
  Peace,
  joni
