To add my input into the mix, I would think that a presidential candidate
would seek the advice of those closest to him not only to add credibility to
his own candidacy but also to maximize votes for both of them. That would
seem like the likely scenario. How they wind up with some of these jaboops
I'll never know. Just as I can't imagine how all the brains and conivery in
the world would come up with a Kerry, but it happens.
So with the Greens. Whomever gains the presidential nomination, I think
would consult with his core advisors to select a partner. They must be
willing and able to work with each other. I would think that the
presidential candidate would be looking for someone who is in sync with
himself so that if something happened to him there would be a smooth and
seamless transition and the veep would follow in his footsteps.
Hence, my personal feeling would be to give the presidential candidate the
latitude to make that decision. If I were in his/her shoes, I would want it
to be that way.
