[Pnp-wg] Seeking Consensus on VP Issue

We've already more or less agreed on the idea that the best VP candidate co=
uld very likely be one of the failed presidential =0D
candidates, especially if such a union offers the possibility of unifying a=
divided convention. Is it likely that our candidates =0D
are going to be interested in listing one another as possible VP choices pr=
ior to the convention? Maybe, but it seems a little =0D
odd to me. =0D
=0D
That said, I don't disagree with the suggestion that we ask presidential ca=
ndidates for a list of possible running mates, as =0D
long as we don't limit them to selecting from that list. =0D

ould only signify POSSIBLE choices of people not =0D
already listed as Prez candidates themselves.=0D

>The list a candidate submits can be as broad as necessary. I am really try=
ing to avoid what happened in 2004. We had a VP =0D
candidate that most of the delegates had never heard of, much less had a ch=
ance to research. I don't want unknowns at the =0D
Convention where they can be avoided.I can't imagine a scenario that requir=
ed an unknown candidate, for either office, =0D
beyond an absolute deadlock, where no accommodation could be achieved. In t=
hat case, I'd like to think that we'd find a =0D
compromise candidate that both sides recognized and respected. =0D

>There's too much back door politicking going on, on several sides. Let's r=
eally work to keep things in the open. Would you =0D
all please reconsider #4, or come up with something as an alternative?=0D
