[Texgreen] The forbidden "L" word

In the confirmation hearings for Robert Gates, he admitted we "aren't
winning" the war in Iraq.

Most people probably understand that this could mean the USA/Bush is
"losing" the war, but that word is apparently forbidden as being too
truthful for the Senate, surrounded as it is by its force field of
unreality (something to do with the 200 lobbyists for every
Congressperson I think).

There is winning and its exact polar opposite, "not winning".

When you're getting your ass kicked in a game of football, what do
you do? Hire a new coach so then you can win right?

Lets review the situation:

<http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/120506A.shtml>

Here we see there are 100,000 contractors in Iraq? Add that to the
150,000 US troops, and we have 250,000. I recall there are about 20
million Iraqis, so we are already at about at over 1% of the total
population. It could be that nearly 1/2 of Iraqis are actually
children. So it means that approaching 2% of all adults there are
either our soldiers or paid mercenaries, We have about 2% of all
adults under our direct hire, not counting any of the subcontractors.

But that doesn't count the Iraqi security forces of 325,000. See:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_Security_Forces

So we have maybe about 5% of all adults fighting on our behalf (or
maybe 10% , since the women don't fight under the rules of war over
there).

Yeah, a new coach. Thats what we need to start winning the war
against Saddam and his fringe element of insurgents. -- Roger
