The guys you never get to elect are spending over a million dollars  
apiece to influence Texas legislators who earn about $7000 apiece. Is  
voting likely to be anything but a quaint formality under these  
conditions?

There are only nine lobbyists per legislator in Texas, but I think  
the number in Washington DC is over a hundred. Does anyone know the  
latter figure? -- Roger
