Perhaps this is "un-Green" of me, but I don't see why option B is not bette=
r than option C.=0A=0AAs the article states: "If the Park Service gets its =
way, =0Acorporations will be allowed to mine, exploit, patent, and profit =
from =0Aliving organisms that we are supposed to be stewarding."=0A=0AStew=
ardship is not the same as isolation. It implies that is looked after=0Aand=
put to the best possible use. If there are micro-organisms that have=0Amed=
ical or commerical benefit - stewardship would imply that the =0Aprospector=
should pay licensing fees to the public sector for its use.=0AAnother adva=
ntage to using micro-organisms is that you can get a =0Asample and them hav=
e them reproduce in the lab, thus avoiding the=0Aneed to "strip mine" for t=
hem in the wild. (Another reason why this=0Atype of venture should be encro=
uraged, rather than walled off.)=0A=0AThis is a public asset, stewardship m=
eans that *provided it can be=0Adone in a sustainable manner* limited comme=
rcial use should be=0Aapproved. Fortunately, germs grow back thousands of t=
imes faster=0Athan old growth forests.=0A=0ASupport Alternative "B".=0A=0AA=
