What prompted the corporate permission to air these views, I believe, is the idea that reporters could be jailed for airing unpopular (but for the corporate media - potentially profitable) views. This new law *holds the possibility* of encroaching on their freedom to craft the most profitable media possible, and therefore this bill merits dissent - despite the corporate media's usual deference to the State.
