Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, people across the country, in cities
large and small are staging rallies and demonstrations as part of a
nationwide demand for impeachment to redress the illegal, immoral invasion
and occupation of Iraq; the spying in open violation of the law; the
sanctioned use of torture, and the neglect of the Constitution.

Houstonians will join with their fellow Americans as hundreds of
rallies are planned all over the United States to call for the impeachment of
President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. (For a map
showing all event locations and a list of all events, go to
http://www.a28.org

Congressman Dennis Kucinich also introduced Articles of Impeachment in
the US House of Representatives this week, against Dick Cheney.

See below for details on two special impeachment events in Houston.

Friday, April 27

Houstonians will gather from 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM, on the six suspension bridges
of Highway 59 (Southwest Freeway) west of downtown Houston for a special
freeway blogging for impeachment during Friday's evening rush hour. The
bridges are bounded on the west by Shepherd Street and on the east by
Main Street, named east to west the Montrose, Graustark, Mandel,
Dunlavy, Woodhead and Hazard Bridges.

The plan: Two signs printed with IMPEACH; one for each direction of
traffic flow, will be provided for all six bridges. Activists will hold
and stand with the 7'x 4' signs. We're providing the signs. You
provide the hands to hold them and to wave to traffic. Some people will also bring American flags to wave at the passing traffic. After all, we support our country and want to preserve our constitutional rights and freedoms.

All are welcome and encouraged to come stand in solidarity.

This will be a strictly daytime operation, from about 4 pm till the end
of
the traffic jam, or we get tired, whichever comes first.

Participants are encouraged to bring family, friends and loved ones.
And spread the word far and wide. Impeachment News Release attached.

Contact: Don Cook, 713-705-5594, zenblews@hotmail.com if you have any questions/concerns.

Saturday, April 28

CODEPINK Houston is organizing a downtown rally in the theatre district
will take place on Saturday evening, April 28. Other groups and
individuals will join with us.

We will gather from 6:45 to 7:00 PM downtown in the lighted area in the
park, on the block directly between the Angelika Theatre and Jones Hall.
This is on Smith Street between Texas and Capitol. (This is NOT
Tranquility Park , which is on the SIDE of the Angelika and within the
Houston Festival grounds.) This is close to, but not within, the Houston
Festival gated area.

We will be doing what many, many groups all over the country will be
doing that day -- walking around carrying signs that say IMPEACH. Other
groups will be joining us with more signs. We will spread out along
the areas adjacent to the Hobby Performing Arts Center, The Angelika and
adjacent restaurants, Jones Hall, the Alley Theatre, and the Wortham
Center and Houston Festival entrances.

We will be downtown from 7:00 PM to about 8:30 P.M., or until the crowds drop
off.

Feel free to contact Madeleine Crozat-Williams at 713-748-8133 (evenings) or 713 802-2530 (days) if you have any questions or concerns.

CODEPINK is a grass roots organization of various people in the US with
common concerns about US foreign and domestic policy and the
devastating effects they have worldwide. The name was inspired by the
multi-colored security alert levels introduced by the Bush Administration late in
2001. It is the level of alert we think should be in use continuously
during these troubled times.
