Dear friend,

Did you know that the coal industry is trying to exploit national security concerns to make the military a guaranteed buyer of filthy "liquid coal" for the next quarter century?

In a recent report by the Wall Street Journal, it was revealed that the industry -- after having failed at attempts to get major liquid coal provisions in the House and Senate energy bills -- is still looking for ways to get the taxpayer to prop up a dirty technology that the free market is already rejecting.

I just signed a petition to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees urging them to reject any effort to insert in appropriation legislation provisions that would obligate the taxpayer to invest in this foolish technology through our military expenditures.

If you hate taxpayer waste, or if you care about global warming (liquid coal produces twice the carbon pollution of petroleum), join me and sign it too.
